# Can You Make the Ghostface AI Trend for Free?

> The honest answer, checked in October 2026: the Ghostface photo is free with a prompt in an AI image app, the video version isn't. What each route costs and when paying for the video makes sense.

Short answer: the Ghostface **photo** is free, and that's how the trend started: a prompt in an AI image app, the free plan's limits permitting. The **video**, where the masked figure walks out of the doorway behind you, costs money everywhere we looked on 31 October 2026. Here's the breakdown, MemeFX AI included.

## The routes at a glance

| Route | What's free | What it costs | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| A prompt in an AI image app | The photo, within daily limits | Free | A still photo |
| Film it yourself | Everything | A mask and a friend | Your own 90s bedroom scene |
| ghostface-ai.com | Points to free prompts | $9.99 for 4 photos, $14.99 with an 8 s video | 9:16, with sound |
| MakeViral | Nothing listed | 3 credits a photo, 8 for photo and video (pack: $9.99 for 100) | 8 s, 9:16, 720p |
| Media.io | "Free credits for new users" | Not listed | Photos and video |
| MemeFX AI | Nothing | From $7.99, or 10 to 70 credits | 8 s, 9:16, the phone-call sound |

## The free photo

The trend began on 25 September 2025 as AI photos: you on a big 90s phone in a Y2K bedroom, the masked figure in the doorway. Upload a selfie to an AI image app such as Gemini and describe that scene; free plans can make it within their daily limits, and ghostface-ai.com points people to free prompts for exactly this. It's a still image, so nothing moves.

## Film it yourself

If you own the mask, a friend can stand in the dark doorway while you laugh into a phone on the bed, then step into the light as you turn around. Free, and the scares are real.

**What it costs you:** a mask, a robe and someone willing to lurk.

## The paid video routes

- **ghostface-ai.com** sells 4 photos for $9.99, or the 4 photos plus an 8-second video for $14.99, one-time.
- **MakeViral** charges 3 credits for a photo and 8 for the photo plus an 8-second 720p video; its smallest pack is $9.99 for 100 credits, so the first video costs $9.99 up front.
- **Media.io** says it offers free credits to new users but doesn't publish how many or what a Ghostface video costs.

## When paying makes sense

- **You want it to move.** The figure leaves the doorway and stops behind you; a photo can't do that.
- **You want it from one selfie,** no prompt to write.
- **You want it ready for Reels or TikTok,** vertical with sound.

When it doesn't: a spooky photo is all you're after (use a free AI image app).

We're not connected to the Scream films or the mask maker; the figure in the video is a generic masked figure.
