The AI Knight Trend Explained: Knight Cat, Gym Bro, Baby Knight and the Sword Swap
How a kitten in armour became four AI video trends in two months, what each version shows, which photos each one needs, and which template to pick for your pet, your child or yourself.
A tiny knight in fitted armour, a sword taller than itself and a strong wind. Since August 2026 that picture has grown into a whole family of AI videos: the gym bro, the baby knight, the sword swap and the winged knight in the cat choir. They look alike, but each tells a different small story. Here is what each one is and which to pick.
Where it started: the knight cat
On 21 August 2026 the AI creator @sickmanai posted a kitten in fitted armour holding a sword taller than itself in a storm. By late September it was a meme in English and Russian: small, but brave. Every version below keeps that look, a misty moor, silver armour and a sword far too big, and adds someone or something next to the little knight.
The four versions
| Version | The story | Photos | Length | Template |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Knight Standing ("Remember your gym bro") | Close-up on the tiny knight, then the camera pulls back to a giant beside it | Tiny knight + the big one | 10 s (giant knight 15 s) | Knight Standing |
| Baby Knight | Your child holds the sword in the wind; you kneel, take it and hand over a teddy bear | You + your child | 10 s | Baby Knight |
| Knight Sword Swap | A little knight alone with a huge sword; a big knight takes it and gives a plush bunny or roses | Little knight + big knight | 15 s (golden 10 s) | Knight Sword Swap |
| Closed on Sunday | Your pet as a winged knight, perfectly still in the middle of a singing cat choir | 1 pet | 14 s | Closed on Sunday |
Knight Standing: "Remember your gym bro"
On 28 September a collab between @derek.mercer.2006 and @sickmanai pulled back from the kitten to a huge muscular man beside it, captioned "Remember your gym bro." It passed 3 million likes on Instagram and started the tiny knight and giant format. A giant knight version with an army far behind followed on 6 October. Pick it when you want a funny pairing: your cat and your gym friend, your dog and you.
Baby Knight: the parent version
Under the gym bro clip, parents commented "Me and my future daughter against the world". On 7 October the creator @gazizaaz in Kazakhstan posted the version that set the look: a toddler in silver armour squints into the wind with a big sword, and her mother, a knight in a red cape, kneels and gives her a soft toy. The caption means "The daily fight for our children". It works for dads and sons the same way.
Knight Sword Swap: the inner child version
On 5 October @ray_chieee posted a golden armour version of the swap, with on-screen text that means "The adult I waited for my whole childhood / turned out to be me": the knight who kneels is the little girl, grown up. Put a photo of yourself as a kid in slot 1 and yourself today in slot 2, and you tell the same story. The red cape version follows the @gazizaaz look with a plush bunny; the golden one brings red roses.
Closed on Sunday: the knight in the choir
A different branch: from 14 October creators put a single still figure in the middle of the choir scene of Kanye West's "Closed on Sunday" video. The first known AI version made the choir fluffy cats around a kitten knight with angel wings. It takes one pet photo.
Which one should you make?
- Your pet and a friend: Knight Standing.
- You and your child: Baby Knight.
- You as a kid and you today: Knight Sword Swap.
- Just your pet: Closed on Sunday.
Photo tips for all of them
- One person or pet per photo, face sharp and turned to the camera, no sunglasses or hats.
- The little knight goes first in every two-photo version.
- A full-body photo of a child or pet shows the build and markings the armour keeps.
- Use only your own child, or a child whose parent asked you to. Keep the AI label on when you post.
