"Closer" is a 2008 single by Ne-Yo; its line "I just can't stop" became the caption of the trend. On 10 March 2022 Gnome Boys posted "We just can't stop" on a park path, and did it again in 2023 ("we still can't stop", 15 million views) and April 2026 ("who's gonna stop us", 12.5 million).
