How to Make an AI Santa Video: You in the Suit, Dancing by the Tree

Turn one photo into a 5-second AI Santa video: what happens second by second, why there's no beard, which photo makes the best Santa, ideas for December and the price in credits.

An AI Santa video turns one photo of you into a 5-second vertical clip: you in a red velvet Santa suit with white fur trim, a black belt, boots and the hat, swaying, spinning once and grinning by a lit Christmas tree. It is your own face, with no fake beard. You need one photo of one adult, ideally full length. The MP4 is 9:16, ready in a few minutes, and starts at 10 credits.

Five seconds in the suit

It is one continuous shot of a warm living room at night, the tree glowing on the left, filmed like a home video.

  • 0–2 s, the sway. You stand in the middle of the room facing the camera and sway side to side, arms loose, the white cuffs swinging out.
  • 2–4 s, the shimmy and the turn. A shoulder shimmy, then one full turn on the spot. For a moment you see the back of the suit and the pompom of the hat.
  • 4–5 s, the grin. You face the camera again and the clip ends on a big smile.

Five seconds is short enough to loop. On Stories and in a group chat it plays over and over, which suits a Santa who won't stop dancing.

Santa without the beard

Every Santa costume comes with a beard, and this one leaves it out on purpose. A white beard hides most of the face, and the whole point is that your friends see it is you. Everything else is there: the red jacket with thick white fur down the front and on the cuffs, the wide black belt with a square gold buckle, red trousers tucked into black boots with white fur tops, and the red hat with its fur band and pompom.

The suit is cut to the body in your photo, so it fits a tall dad, a short aunt or anyone in between. If you want the full white-bearded look, this isn't the template for it.

The red suit is older than the soda ads

A popular story says Coca-Cola dressed Santa in red. It didn't. A white-bearded, red-suited Santa was already selling sweets in 1868, and Thomas Nast drew his plump "Merry Old Santa" in red in 1881. Coca-Cola's 1930s ads, painted by Haddon Sundblom, made that look the standard one rather than inventing it (The Ferret's fact-check). The suit in this template is that classic look: red velvet, white fur, black belt.

Which photo makes the best Santa

  • Head to shoes if you can. The clip shows you from the hat to the boots, so a full-length photo gets your height and build right. A close selfie works, but your body is guessed.
  • Face to the camera, in even light. The spin brings your face back for the final smile, and that front view comes from your photo.
  • One person. Crop a group photo down to just you.
  • No sunglasses or heavy filters. Take off a cap or hood too; the Santa hat replaces it anyway.
  • Wear anything. Your clothes become the suit, so there is nothing to dress up for.
  • Adults only, with their yes. Use your own photo or one of an adult who agreed to it.

What it costs

It isn't free; you pay in credits. Balanced is 10 credits at 480p and 20 at 720p. Premium keeps the face closer to your photo and goes up to 1080p: 20 credits at 480p, 40 at 720p and 70 at 1080p. You can buy a single video without an account; the order form shows the price before you pay. There is no watermark, and a failed render is refunded automatically.

Ways to use a five-second Santa

  • Secret Santa reveal. Send the clip to the coworker you drew, with "Your Secret Santa has been identified".
  • The family's designated Santa. The relative who plays Santa every year gets a version for the group chat.
  • A moving card. Add "Ho ho ho from the Millers" and your names in your editor and send it instead of a card.
  • Christmas Eve story. Post it the night before and let it loop.

Caption ideas: "Santa called in sick, so I covered", "New management at the North Pole", "Ho ho hold on, that's me". Tag it #santaclaus and #christmas, and keep the platform's AI label on.
